Fishing
You can enjoy fishing in the Sangamon River, with species like crappie, catfish and bass available. Fishing licenses are required.

The park's pond offers opportunities for catching bluegill and largemouth bass.

Fishing equipment is not provided so bring your own gear to catch these freshwater fish varieties.

Remember that all state regulations apply when fishing within this area.

The park offers a variety of birding opportunities, with over 200 species recorded. It features diverse habitats including forests and wetlands attracting different types of birds. Birdwatchers can spot migratory songbirds in spring or fall, while summer brings nesting species like the Indigo Bunting and Eastern Bluebird. Winter is ideal for spotting Bald Eagles along the Sangamon River.
