LAKE SOMERVILLE STATE PARK TRAILWAY
Visitors can enjoy fishing in two main areas: Nails Creek Unit and Birch Creek Unit. The park offers a variety of fish species including largemouth bass, crappie, catfish and white bass. Fishing gear is available for loan within the park premises at no cost. A valid Texas fishing license is required to fish here unless exempted by law.

The park offers birding opportunities with species like the Red-tailed Hawk, Eastern Bluebird and Northern Cardinal. Other birds sighted include Scissor-tail Flycatchers, American Kestrels and various waterfowl. The trailway is a hotspot for migratory songbirds in spring and fall seasons. Birdwatchers can also spot Bald Eagles during winter months.
