November 4 Not a state park by Rick Just
Although there is currently a proposal to make it one, Horsethief is not a state park.

We chose to camp here because we heard the fish were biting. Not exactly true. We did not find the public water pump, or the huge dock featured in some of the pics on this site. However, we had a great time despite those little things
March 6 great camping and fishing by denise from utah
July 21 Good but very public. by Andrew
The location was very clean and well taken care of, the mosquitoes are worth bringing bug spray for and the horseflies are pretty numerous but neither are bad enough to cause real problems.
The reservoir itself was a good temperature and shallow enough to let children splash around whilst having enough space to let adults swim to their hearts content.
The only downside you may find would be the number of other individuals camping around you. If you like having privacy and lots of personal space, this site may not be the best option for you.

at 62 years old and new to Idaho, gotta say this beats any camping site I have been to in my life, wonderful, great experience, nothing bad to say at all about this camping site, just perfect!!
July 6 Great for family!
This lake and camp area is great! we have been 4 times already this year and will go again! does anyone know if they have the docks put in yet??
July 13 Fun and lots of sun! by happy camper
Horsethief Reservoir State Park is a great place to stay! The bathrooms are very well maintained and the camp sites are very clean! There are bugs so do bring bug spray and sun block! But do not let that discourage you form coming to Horsethief because it is beautiful!!!! And if you have a boat bring it down because there is a lake right next to your camp site! And lots of fun for kids especially if they like to fish! I would not go any were else!
May 13 Family Getaway. by jenny
this is the best campsite to take your family. its not far from cascade main town and not far from mccall. the best place ever. we go every summer and im so glad it doesnt cost. because it helps us enjoy the summers there at the campsite. and the camp hosts are totally sweet people.
