This is like going home for me. My father was in the CCC corps and worked on many bridges and roads in the area. Went into the Army during WWII for 4.5 years in the tank corp & returned to Jefferson Barracks where we lived until shut down. Many of days we would come out to Babler just to get out.

I was locked up here as a child as well. It was cruel and torturous and I saw plenty of blood and injuries to the kids there.

Beautiful scenery on the numerous walks. Very peaceful and serene. The only downside was the number of ticks!
